Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo...
―Angelina's humming

Angelina Mouseling is the main protagonist of the shows of the same name. She is voiced by Finty Williams in the Classic series and Charlotte Spencer in The Next Steps.

Biography[]

Angelina is an adorable, sweet, and feisty main protagonist who loves to dance ballet and dreams of becoming a real ballerina one day. She comes from the small friendly village of Chipping Cheddar, and has a little sister named Polly and a cousin named Henry.

History[]

Childhood[]

As a young mouseling, she had a ballerina ragdoll named Polka. She promised herself that she would never let her go ever. Angelina named her ragdoll, Polka because she and her grandfather liked to dance to the polka together and her father used to play it for her. When she got older, she accidentally gave her away and she and Alice decide to find her until a little mouseling made her learn that she has to give the ragdoll to someone else.[1]

Becoming a Ballerina[]

According to the original book, back when Angelina wasn't a ballerina yet, she danced everywhere she went, even to school. However, she forgets to do the things that she was supposed to be doing and often cause messes. This gave her mother and father the idea to buy her the slippers and tutu at the store. From that day on, Angelina wasn't just Angelina Mouseling anymore, she was Angelina Ballerina. The next day, she brings her new clothes to Miss Lilly's ballet school to do her first lesson. All of Angelina's classmates, including herself, practiced curtsies and plies and did skips and twirls until they all went home. This makes her busy without any supper and bedtime or going to school anymore as she works really hard to become a famous ballerina. A lot of people came from far and wide to see her dance on stage, and it was a success.[2]

Meeting Alice[]

In the book, "Angelina and Alice," Angelina and Alice met when Alice came to school. She was good at doing the same things that Angelina does all the time and the two were close friends and were always together. They even like skipping ropes and doing cartwheels around the playground. One time, Angelina fell right on her bottom, causing all the mouseling kids, including Alice to laugh at her and call her names. They later reunite when Alice asks Angelina if she would be her partner in gymnastics and she accepts.[3]

Birth of Polly[]

Angelina first met Polly in the book, "Angelina's Baby Sister" and it's episode adaptation. She liked her at first until her parents gave Polly more attention than her. This makes Angelina angry as she destroys her room and throws a meltdown and breaks her china statue that Miss Lilly gave her by accident until her mother comforts her that she loved her as much as Polly. Downstairs, her grandparents fix the statue and Angelina does a dance for Polly to stop her from crying. In the end, as she reads Polly a book, she tells her that she was going to teach her how to dance when she gets older.[4][5]

Personality[]

Angelina has a soft English-accented voice. Her catchphrases are "Absolutely, positively!", "Really, truly!", "Stupendous!" and "Hoop-dee-doo!" Despite her positive attributes, Angelina is a drama queen and has had several crying moments throughout the series. However, she puts these aside in crises where the interest of her friends is concerned and comes to their aid, even occasionally saving the lives of those in mortal danger. For example, she sometimes put aside her rivalry with the Pinkpaws twins when she saw them struggling to stay afloat in a raging stream, giving up her chance to win a tandem race to save them from drowning.[6] Angelina loves all of her friends and may have a crush on William and Marco. She also loves sweets, especially holiday sweets.

Physical Appearance[]

Angelina is an anthropomorphic mouse who stands on two feet and is skinny. She has black/purple eyes and white-pinkish fur. She often wears a pink leotard, a pink tutu with a red rose on it, an orange/pink hair bow, and pink ballet slippers. Angelina even wears a pink vest, which first happened in "The Show Must Go On".

In the wintertime, she wears a blue jacket, pink hat, either of two pink scarves (one plain and the other with red polka dots) and a red Santa hat with a little pink bow.

At bedtime, in most episodes, she wears her nightgown.
